Through our own experience, and that of many individuals and organizations around the state, we know that concerned citizens can successfully organize to protect local wetlands. This section of WWA’s Protecting Wetlands web-pages will be designed to:

  1. Celebrate the successes of communities working to protect local wetlands, and
  2. Share their stories to provide ideas and inspiration for the efforts of local wetland protection advocates in other parts of the state.

If you have a wetland protection success story to share, please describe it in 500 words or less and email it to: policy@wisconsinwetlands.org. Please consider attaching photographs of the wetlands you helped save and the people who helped you save them.

Recent wetland protection success stories Wisconsin Wetlands Association has been involved with include:

North Crab Lake, Vilas County: Citizens Catch Wetland Violator

Lake Koshkonong, Southeast Wisconsin: Judge Rules to uphold DNR’s decision to protect wetlands by denying request to increase lake levels

West Bend Wetlands, Washington County: Environmental Impact Statement to be prepared to examine wetland, waterway and wildlife impacts of proposed airport expansion
