Are you curious about where to start when it comes to understanding the root causes of your community’s water issues, like water quality or water availability? Examining your landscape’s hydrology and understanding how it’s changed is a good place to start!

A new interactive StoryMap looks at one Wisconsin region whose history of wetland loss and altered hydrology is affecting its waters. It also explores the many ways that hydrologic restoration could help improve the things they’re concerned about, like improving soil, water, and watershed health. We call this taking a ‘hydrology-first’ approach. While the data are specific to Central Wisconsin, the concepts apply throughout the state.

Check out this interactive StoryMap to see one landscape’s legacy of wetland loss, and explore the many ways that wetland and hydrologic restoration can start repairing the landscape.
