Whether the bogs of the Northwoods, the coastal
marshes along Lake Michigan, the kettles of southeastern Wisconsin,
or the flood plains of the Wisconsin River, wetlands play a role
in virtually all of Wisconsin's and North America's landscapes.
Our mission statement guides us
as we decide which programs to develop and which issues to take
on. The map illustrates our direct presence throughout Wisconsin.
We influence wetland issues throughout our nation by working with
the Great Lakes Aquatic Habitat
Network, the North American Bird Conservation Initiative, the Wisconsin Bird Conservation Initiative, and other regional or nationwide
initiatives, by voicing our support for good national wetland
policies, and by encouraging our colleagues throughout the nation
to replicate our success at protecting our isolated wetlands.
