Conference Volunteer
Wisconsin Wetlands Association hosts an
annual science conference in January or February to facilitate the exchange of new research and information about wetland issues including restoration, policy, and mitigation. More than 225 people attend our conference, and we need your help to make sure everything runs smoothly. Staff the registration table, assist with A/V equipment, help run field trips, help set up and manage our silent auction, and more. Student volunteers can apply for registration scholarships for the conference.

Outreach Booth Volunteers
An important part of the mission of the Wisconsin Wetlands Association is public education about the value of wetlands for our communities. We have produced an attractive, portable display that explains the work Wisconsin Wetlands Association does to protect and advocate on behalf of wetlands. We use this display at events like Canoecopia, garden shows, community fairs, and other events. We are looking for people to help staff our booth at events, which would involve offering Wisconsin Wetlands Association literature to visitors and signing interested people up to receive our newsletter. No formal training is required - just enthusiasm for wetlands and Wisconsin Wetlands Association's mission. Our staff and volunteers will assist new volunteers so that they are familiar with the materials. Families are welcome!

Advocacy
Wisconsin Wetlands Association strives to serve as the "eyes and ears" of Wisconsin’s wetland enthusiasts at the state capitol regarding important policy, judicial, legislative or legal activities that would have a lasting negative affect on wetlands in the state. But personal testimony from citizens can be much more powerful than direct lobbying by our staff on many issues. We rely on volunteer advocates from all parts of the state to voice their opinions by contacting legislators and other elected officials and by attending and presenting testimony at wetland-related public hearings. Wisconsin Wetlands Association can provide you with the tools you need - talking points, background, information about where and when hearings will take place, and whom to contact (and how) - through our
Wetland Alert email listserve.

Office Assistant
Work in our small, friendly office assisting us with office tasks including preparing renewal mailings, processing new and renewing memberships, and sending membership thank-you letters. Help with entering names, addresses, and phone numbers into an Excel spreadsheet as part of new member recruitment efforts. Wisconsin Wetlands Association will provide all training.

Programs Promoter
Help Wisconsin Wetlands Association publicize programs in your area! We need volunteers from around the state who can help us disseminate information on upcoming Wisconsin Wetlands Association events in their communities. Help us promote our programs by identifying listservs, newsletters, and other publicity venues through which our programs can be publicized, and help us spread the word. This is a great opportunity for someone who is connected with local groups and networks..

Wetland Workshop Volunteer
Wisconsin Wetlands Association hosts various workshops to train landowners, land managers, conservationists, educators and wetland professionals. Staff the registration table, assist with A/V equipment, assist with setting up refreshments, and more. Volunteers will receive free workshop registration.

Annual Meeting Volunteer
Can you lend an hour or two of your time helping out during our Annual Meeting & Wetlands Awards Ceremony, held in the fall (usually late October or early November)? We always need volunteers to help with setup, staffing the registration table, and post-event clean-up. Give us a hand for a little while, then spend the rest of the evening enjoying the event and mingling with fellow wetland enthusiasts.
