Green areas indicate wetlands within and adjacent to project area (proposed footprint outlined). Note the wetlands that line the northern bank of the Milwaukee River and their proximity to proposed fill.
Runway will extend across St Hwy 33 and Oak road and well into wet forest. Note connectivity between the oxbow on the Milwaukee River and the adjacent wetlands.
Hwy 33 is proposed to be rerouted to run directly through this ephemeral pond. Water depth in this photo = 18 inches (April 2004).
This pond is an estimated 3-4’deep and falls within the graded ("direct fill") area for the expanded runway.
New runway will be directly across from this protected natural area which supports a heron rookery.
