Wisconsin Wetlands Association’s 2007 Annual Membership Meeting

Join WWA staff, Board of Directors, members, supporters, and other wetland enthusiasts to celebrate wetlands at our 2007 Annual Membership Meeting! The event will feature wetland readings, music, a brief presentation on WWA's program accomplishments in the past year, and the election of new Board members. We will be providing beverages, savory hors d'oeuvres, and desserts to enhance the festivities.

SCHEDULE OF EVENTS (revised)

6:30 - 7:00 PM Opening Reception featuring Banrock Station Wine. Banrock Station has a strong commitment to wetlands and conservation in general -- "every sip saves the Earth."
7:00 - 7:45 PM WWA Program Presentation & Annual Meeting, including election of new members of WWA's Board of Directors.
7:45 - 9:30 PM Entertainment, Closing Reception & Optional Night Walk. We are delighted to offer you the opportunity to hear wetland-themed readings and music from several local artists. After the entertainment, there will be a closing reception and an optional night walk of the Arboretum led by Board Chair Alice Thompson. If you are interested in joining us for this activity, we recommend that you bring a flashlight or headlamp.

  • Author Laurie Lawlor will read from her award-winning book This Tender Place: The Story of a Wetland Year. Lawlor is the author of more than 35 books andcurrently teaches writing at Columbia College in Chicago.
  • Poet Mary Linton will read a selection of her original works. Mary's poems have appeared in Appalachia, Aethlon, Blueline, Builder, Country Feedback Magazine, Poetry Motel, and Seeding the Snow. She is also a professional wetland ecologist.
  • Singer-songwriter Erin O'Brien will perform several of her original songs related to water and wetlands. Erin has performed extensively throughout the Midwest and was named 2004 Performing Songwriter of the Year by the Madison Songwriters Group, and she is also WWA's own Wetland Policy & Conservation Specialist.

    From I-90, merge on to W Beltline Hwy/US-12 W/US-18 W toward Madison. Take Exit 258A for Seminole Hwy and turn right. Take Seminole Hwy 0.3 miles to the Arboretum entrance sign. Turn right on to Arboretum drive and follow to the Visitor’s Center.

    ELECTION OF NEW WWA BOARD MEMBERS: INFORMATION FOR WWA MEMBERS
    Elections for new members of the WWA Board of Directors will be held as part of the WWA Annual Meeting. If you will not be able to attend the annual meeting but wish to vote for Board members, please contact WWA at 608-250-9971 or info[AT]wisconsinwetlands.org or download a
    paper ballot. Mail in or fax your ballot to WWA (address & fax number to be provided on ballot) by 5:00 PM, Thursday, November 14, for your vote to be counted.
