Greetings
Wetland Activist,
If you
have yet to submit comments regarding the pending renewal of the General
Permit covering expansion of cranberry operations (about which we emailed
you earlier this week), you have a little more time. A representative at
the Army Corps of Engineers has indicated that they will accept comments
for an additional 30 days.
Because we have not seen a posting yet for the official revised
deadline, we encourage you to still submit comments by December 5th,
but to reference the promised extension and indicate that you may submit
supplemental comments pending additional information. WWA will forward
additional talking points once our open records request for information
about mitigation compliance has been fulfilled and reviewed.
This extension is, in part, a result of the efforts of Wisconsin Wetlands
Association and others with concerns about this pending renewal -- thank
you to all of you who have expressed your concerns in recent days, and to
all of you who will do so in the coming days.
Note: Our intent is to
limit the number of Wetland Alert and Wetland News emails to
one per week. This week we've had to make an exception because we've had
some important, time-sensitive information to share with you. Please bear
with us.
